Special Celebrations

Egypt

Dear Friends in Iran,
We hope that you are in a good health.
Here are two of our celebrations

The most celebrated 2 festivals here are “The Birth Of Our Prophet Mohammad and “The Christmas”.

The Mouled: For Muslems

In Egypt, like other Arab and Islamic countries we celebrate the birthday of the prophet "Mohammad", as he was born the 12th of Rabie 1st (according to Arabic months) more than 1464 years ago. You can find those charming Arabian decorations and multicolored joyful lights all over the streets in popular areas such as Alhussein and AlAzhar areas in the middle of Cairo, those ancient and historic places of the Islamic Cairo. As they are used to celebrate this holy day in a big festival we call it in Arabic "Mouled". The word "Mouled" in Arabic means “Birth” but we use it sometimes
for the festivals , and there are those Arabic drums and music, dancers and singers coming from every single part of Egypt , and people selling food and sweets, and clowns . They all do their best to

impress the crowd, and get the attention of all the people for the longest time.
Parents in that day buy sweets for this occasion for their children:

the beautiful the little boy on his horse and the doll are designed specifically for the Prophet's birthday celebrations. This day, children are desperately waiting for those sweets, the doll and the boy with

some other sweets known for this occasion.

The Christmas:for Christians

The Christmas they celebrate by the birth of the Christ in 29 kayak of the Coptic calendar and seven of January. The New Year's celebrations are considered one of the most important characteristics of each culture, as it has a different aspect in every region and a different taste in every country. It actually reflects a big part of our cultural traditions, the way we celebrate, and the beliefs behind those

celebrations. It's always one of the most beautiful period in the whole year.
Christians living in Egypt .although we all celebrate it but it's special for Christians as it's a religious celebration to them in that day some of us get and decorate Christmas tree, gifts are bought to children for the new years celebration and we don’t forget going out on the new years evening with

friends to parties till the first hours of the morning.

our spring celebration

Hi dear friends

Here's some information about one of our celebrations it is one of our most celebrated festivals it's called (cham el naseem) it's the celebration of the beginning of the spring.
That day is originally celebrated by the pharos so it's traditional celebration. The pharos used to celebrate that day by going out ,cheering thier king ,......
They also believed that this day is very important for the gods.. they made sacrefices.. they also believed that who ever wakes up late that day.. stays lazy for the rest of the year. For modern Egyptians, people go out to parks, visit thier relatives ...
People have some traditional meals that day like fishes and eggs (which they color in the beginning of the day) that's all for now.. if you need to know any more about it you can just ask.

yours,
Mohamed Khamis
